This site is devoted to scale models of great Italian automobiles, especially Ferrari. Italian sports cars in general, and Ferraris in particular have always been among top performers in the sports car world, so when I started creating car models, Ferraris became my favorite object of modeling. Non-Italian cars featured on the site are some of my favorite cars from other parts of the world. |

I know, I know. I haven't updated the site for a few months - guilty as charged! But I have been building quite a bit and taking lots of pictures (I got new digital SLR too!), so all is well. With so many new responsibilities it is really hard to find the time to build, and even harder to find the time to select the pictures, compile the materials, and put together an update. But today I'm happy to present one of the biggest updates in the history of the site - lots of new stuff in EVERY section!
First of all, there are two new comprehensive buildups of two great cars! One is an extensive modification of an excellent Model Factory Hiro multimedia kit (see review of the kit here) of the famous 250 GTO Series II S/N 4399GT driven by Ireland and Maggs (#25) to 6th place in 24 Hours of Lemans in 1964. Terrific (Climax based) kit by Hiro, which I modified with opening panels and few other little things. Second (and actually third one too) is a great supercar of the 90's - a famous Ferrari F50. I couldn't decide on the color, so I have built two of them - identical except for the color. One is traditional Rosso Corsa and other is Nero Daytona - both painted with excellent Zero Paints authentic Ferrari colors. Be sure to check both buildups!
There are several new articles in the publications section - my Ferrari 360 Modena and "Hertz" Edition Subaru WRX STi were published in Tamiya Model Magazine, and my Working with Photoetched Parts tutorial was published in Scale Auto magazine. As I'm writing this, all magazines should be still available at the newsstands, so please check with your favorite retailers. More buildups are coming up in the next few weeks.
Three new wallpapers were added to the wallpapers section, and some are now available in widescreen too - 1440 x 900 resolution. I hope you like new additions. There is a new tutorial - a step-by-step guide to build a simple photo booth to take pictures of your models and work in progress using simple materials. I have used it extensively on the last few buildups and very happy with the results. I'm also working on another tutorial about drybrushing and other weathering techniques, and it should be completed and available very soon.
In addition to working on my 1/24 scale projects, I have built several small scale models - some of them featured in new section of the website devoted to 1/43 scale models. These are little gems and I highly recommend building one of these when you get a chance - I have learned quite a bit new by building these small scale replicas. I sure will be building more in the future - so stay tuned for more models.
Lawrence from KA Models was kind enough to send me few samples of his new products - they are very nice and quality kits - please check reviews section for detailed reviews. Also there are new reviews of MFH 250 LM kit, and latest from MSM Creation - a highly anticipated (by me at least!) F50GT transkit. I also have posted few new pictures of my (never-ending) "work-in-progress" projects. Finally, my Ferrari kits database was once again revised and updated with all new kits and several new pictures and reviews. Well, I guess that is all for today. If I forgot anything - just browse around. Hopefully if won't be long till the next update. Keep on modeling! Alex |
